ABOUT OUR MARKET
Talgarth Livestock Market officially opened in 1922 as an open air market however since that time the majority of the premises has been covered and literally millions of livestock have passed through under the guide of the auctioneers hammer. The old firm of Sunderlands operated from the centre for over 60 years but after a recent merger it is now managed by Sunderlands & Thompsons LLP. It is situated at the heart of the market town of Talgarth just 7 miles west of the Wales and England Border and draws livestock from up to a 200 mile radius! Talgarth Market is well known nationally as a centre for sourcing real quality livestock including fat lambs, suckler bred store cattle and breeding stock which is a credit to all the surrounding producers that support the market.
We currently hold weekly sales of Fat lambs and Cull ewes and can easily accommodate 2000 lambs and 1000 cull ewes. There is also the monthly sale of store cattle and barren cows which attracts terrific shows of quality store cattle and encourages buyers from all corners of the UK.
The auctioneers are always pleased to see new and regular customers so please feel free to call in and see us.
