BEE SALE GOES DOWN A SWARM AT LLANIGON!!
Sunderlands & Thompsons LLP report the successful dispersal sale of Live Bee Hives & Equipment last Saturday near Hay-on-Wye, which was held upon the kind instructions of Mr. Robin Lewis. Mr. Lewis is extremely well known throughout the country amongst the Bee fraternity having kept bees for some 67 years. He is the Chairman of The Bee Farmers Association of Britain and the former owner and Managing Director of the Brecon Honey Company (BHC Ltd).
The Auctioneer Matthew Nicholls commented that:
“ This must be one of the first sales of this kind ever held in this area and it attracted interest from all over the country” he further commented that
“It was certainly a first for me, especially selling in a fully kitted Bee Suit!”
There was over 500 lots on offer, with the live hives selling for between £120 and £320 per hive.

An exceptional entry of Horse & Ponies for this the first sale at Talgarth Market for over 50 years. There was a huge amount of interest in the run up to the sale and sale day itself was even better than expected. People had travelled the width and breadth of the country to support it and the auctioneer Matthew Nicholls was overwhelmed with the turnout with the sale ring packed to the rafters.

50 WORKING DOGS
A very pleasing entry of dogs forward for Sunderlands & Thompsons first sale of working sheepdogs at Hay on Wye. There was a huge crowd in attendance with vendors and purchasers from all corners of the country, Cornwall, Essex, North Wales and Yorkshire. The was a variety of dogs forwards from those exceptionally trained and registered dogs to those that required more schooling. It would be fair to say that there was something for everyone.
NEW FACE AT TALGARTH MARKET

Sunderlands and Thompsons are delighted to announce that Matthew Nicholls has joined their team of auctioneers and professionals. Matthew is a local man and has been born and bred in this area completing his secondary and sixth form education at Gwernyfed High School and then attending Harper Adams University College where he acheived a First Class Honours Degree in Rural Land Management. He is also now a fully qualified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and starts his first week with Sunderlands and Thompsons this week and will be based in a new permanent office at Talgarth Livestock Market. He will be in charge of the sale of prime lambs and cull ewes every Friday and part of the store cattle sales every month. With a new Market at Hereford coming ever closer Matthew will also have a key role at Hereford Market Auctioneers Ltd every Wednesday.
